Ryan’s Journey with Hyper

“Before working with Hyper, I had retired from playing in the Australian Football League (AFL) full-time with the Sydney Swans and was spending a year travelling. While travelling, I struggled to find short-term gym passes, and that’s where the idea for GymGoer came from. The biggest challenge I faced before working with Hyper was knowing where to start and how to run a startup. I went straight from school into playing footy full-time, so I had no formal business knowledge.

Hyper helped me by breaking things down step by step so I knew where my time was best spent and what to focus on at each stage, while finishing up my travels. They also handled product strategy and design, so my role was to review, share feedback, and keep moving forward without being overwhelmed.

One of the most valuable things I gained from Hyper was accountability, the discipline to focus on what mattered and not get stuck on things that weren’t important at the time. I learned how to build a startup from the ground up without being overwhelmed by the bigger picture, simply putting one foot in front of the other when the timing was right. Thanks to Hyper’s guidance, I was able to refine my original product idea into something more polished for a minimum viable product and gain the confidence to approach advisors, partners, and investors.

All of this ultimately led to raising $400k at a $4m valuation and building a phenomenal advisory team. Today, GymGoer is live on the App Store, actively onboarding gyms and connecting gym-goers with short-term passes while they’re on the move.”
