Who are you and what is Larrg?

I’m Matthew Mackay, founder of Larrg. We help lawyers and other regulated professionals keep up with government, legislative and regulatory changes relevant to their work.

Larrg is building a curated, jurisdiction-aware feed that filters official updates by practice area. The aim is to turn a broad stream of government information into something a professional can review and act on.

What problem were you originally trying to solve?

Larrg began with a wider legal-access idea. I wanted to make legislation and legal information easier for the public to find and understand. As we spoke with users and people across the legal industry, a more urgent problem kept surfacing.

Professionals were struggling to monitor changes across agencies, jurisdictions and subject areas. Important updates were spread across government websites, newsletters and alerts. Staying informed took time and still left room for something relevant to be missed.

How did those conversations change the product?

We focused Larrg on regulatory intelligence. Instead of asking a user to search through every source, the product is being designed to collect authoritative government updates, organise them by jurisdiction and deliver the changes connected to their area of practice.

The pivot gave us a clearer customer and a more immediate workflow. It also brought the product closer to a recurring professional need, where accuracy, source quality and timeliness all matter.

Where is Larrg today?

Larrg has raised A$600,000 across a private investment and an angel round, including funding at a valuation of A$5 million. I am working on the business full-time and continuing to shape the product through conversations with legal and regulated professionals.

The focus now is building a dependable source of change intelligence and proving how much monitoring time it can save. The original goal of making complex rules easier to navigate remains part of the company. We are applying it first where the need is frequent, specific and commercially urgent.
